X-ray Split & Delay (XRSD)
The XRSD is capable of splitting the FEL beam into two pulses that can hit the target separated from 0 to 200 fs. The tilt and height of the mirrors can be controlled through both coarse and precision actuators and the mirror positions are read back through a laser interferometer system, allowing for timing accuracy down to a fraction of a femtosecond as well as stable beam spatial overlap.
Timing Tool
The timing jitter between the FEL pulse and the synchronized optical laser can be recorded from shot-to-shot (only at full FEL pulse energy). This is done using an X-ray/optical cross-correlator that takes advantage of transient reflectivity changes in silicon nitride thin films. See details in Nature Photonics, 8, 706 (2014).
Extension Into Hutch 2
Capability of extending Hutch 1 into Hutch 2 to incorporate non-standard equipment.
LAMP Ion-electron Spectrometer
This instrument (Western-Michigan University, T. Osipov), specially designed for the LAMP end-station chamber consists of an 4pi collection efficiency electron (up to 150 eV) and ion (up to 50 eV singly charged ions) spectrometer, with conical lenses for unobstructed line of sight of the ineraction region by the pnCCD detectors in LAMP.
