User Guide | 3. Start your Beamtime
If you're an onsite user, you'll need to check in at SLAC to start your beamtime. If you're a remote user you're ready to start.
Check in at SLAC
Enter through the main gate, then check in at the VUE Center in Building 53.
Note
You'll need to present a government-issued ID at the main gate to enter. Remember to bring your required documents to check in.
Badging hours
Monday–Friday, 6am–5pm (Closed 12:30pm–1pm and on Holidays)
Check-ins are not permitted during evenings or on weekends.
If you'll arrive outside of badging hours
Contact our User Office to arrange your arrival time. Otherwise, you may be denied access to our facility.

Access your experiment tools to collect & analyze data
Access your data analysis tools
Contact your experiment POC for access to collaborative tools like Slack or Google Drive to connect with your team during beamtime.

- Explore transportation options
- Explore dining options
- Find a SLAC building or meeting room
- Find activities to do (SLAC gym, shopping, arts, attractions)
- See designated smoking areas
